Why does the speech sound like a robot voice? (Windows XP, Windows Server 2003)
You must be running Windows Vista or Windows XP with the Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 installed and a third party speech synthesis. Windows Vista has the speech synthesis built in.

What years does the Year/Make/Model table cover?
The year/make/model table covers 1901 to 2009.

What years does the V.I.N. decoder cover?
The V.I.N. decoder covers 1985 to 2007.

How do I backup my database?
  • Select File, Database, Backup from the main drop down menu.
  • Click Browse to select a backup folder.
  • Press <Backup>.

How do I password protect my program?
  • Select File, Settings from the main drop down menu.
  • Click <Security>.
  • Select Use Passwords and enter a Master, Manager & User password.
  • Press <Save>.
    You must set up your employees access levels and password to enable them to log in.

How do I view the owner's manual?
Select Start, All Programs, RepairWriter 3 from the Windows Start menu & select the desired manual.

How do I reprint or view an invoice by estimate or repair order number?
  • Select Invoice, Reprint Invoice from the main drop down menu.
  • Select Repair Order #, Counter Ticket #, Estimate #
  • Enter desired the invoice number.
  • Press <Print> or <View>.

How do I search for a customer by vehicle license or V.I.N. number?
  • Select Customer, Vehicle Search from the main drop down menu.
  • Click the desired header to search.
  • Enter the desired information in the search window.
  • Press <Open> to open the customer associated with the selected vehicle.

How can I tell what version I am running?
Select Help, About from the main drop down menu.

How do I update the program?
  • Download the current update from the internet.   Download Now
  • Make sure the program is closed and press <Update>.
    This must be done on each computer.
