Prerequisites
The setup program will check your system for the .Net Framework & Windows Installer.  You will be prompted to install them if they are required.   If you do not have a high speed internet connection or want to install them manually you can run them from the installation CD or download.

CD Instructions

1. Insert the RepairWriter 4 CD and wait for the setup program to launch.
   If the setup does not launch automatically, navigate to the CD and run Setup.exe.
2. Proceed to step #4 below.

Download Instructions

1. Download the RepairWriter 4 setup program to your desktop.
   
   If you choose <Run> instead of <Save> from the file download dialog, you can skip step #2.
    
2. Launch the setup program from the rw4_setup.exe icon created on the desktop.
3. Click <Yes> on the User Account Control dialog if prompted.
   
    
4. You will be prompted to install RepairWriter 4.  Click <OK> and wait for the files to be extracted from the archive.
   
   
   
    
5. If you are prompted to install the .Net Framework or any other prerequisites, accept the agreement and wait for the download and installation to finish.  You may be prompted to restart your computer.  Instructions
6. Click <Next> on the RepairWriter4 Setup Wizard.
   
    
7. Click <Next> on the Select Installation Folder window.
   
    
8. Click <Next> on the Confirm Installation window.
   
   
   
    
9. Click <Close> on the Installation Complete window.
   
    
10. Double-Click the RepairWriter 4 Icon created on the Desktop.
11. Accept the license agreement and click <Okay>. (Alt + O)
    
     
12. Enter the Registered To information and product key.
    
    • Demo Product Key:
      AAAAA-AAAAA-AAAAA-AAAAA-AAAAA-AAAAA
    • Tire Demo Product Key:
      TTTTT-TTTTT-TTTTT-TTTTT-TTTTT-TTTTT
    • Motorcycle Demo Product Key:

    • Boat/Marine Demo Product Key:
      BBBBB-BBBBB-BBBBB-BBBBB-BBBBB-BBBBB

Demo Program or New Customer

13. Click <Validate>. (Alt + V)
14. Installation is complete.

Database Conversion

13. Put a check in Convert Existing Data. (Alt + C)
14. Click <Validate>. (Alt + V)
15. Select the previous version of RepairWriter and the database path if needed.
    If a previous installation of RepairWriter is found this information will automatically be entered.
    
     
16. Select the destination database.
17. Click <Start>. (Alt + V)
    The database conversion may take some time depending on the size of the data and the speed of the computer.
18. After the database is converted the installation is complete.

Manual Database Conversion

1. Select File, Settings, Conversion Utilities (Alt + F, D, V) from the main drop down menu.
2. Select the previous version of RepairWriter and the database path if needed.
   If a previous installation of RepairWriter is found this information will automatically be entered.
   
    
3. Select the destination database.
4. Click <Start>. (Alt + V)
   The database conversion may take some time depending on the size of the data and the speed of the computer.
5. After the database is converted the installation is complete.

Multi-User Workstation Installation

1. Install the program as shown above.  Do not convert RepairWriter data on a Workstation installation.
2. Select File, Database, Open (Alt + F, D, O) from the main drop down menu.
3. Select the path where the RepairWriter 4 data resides.
   
   The data must be available with full access at a ^*UNC file location or mapped drive.
     ^*Universal Naming Convention (i.e. //server/data).
    
4. Click <Open>. (Alt + O)
5. After the database is converted the installation is complete.
